Science Slam

In his "best solo program to date" (Wiener Zeitung), Berni Wagner "once again disguises his intelligent humor intelligent humor and satirical acumen with lots of snappy punchlines as a powerful stand-up comedy" (Ö1), "cleverly builds up stories throughout the evening that surprise and inspire in their weirdness and scurrility" (Falter) and slams "punky eco-cabaret in front of the audience with anarchistic delight [...]" (Oberösterreichisches Volksblatt). Galápagos: a play on life and species death and a declaration of love to humanity. The trained biologist "spans an arc from his own personal relationship problems [...] to the global problems of climate change [...]. The fact that the 30-year-old Upper Austrian is able to wrap all of this up in a witty, punchy feather dress characterized by insane wit and stand-up speed is an additional reason for awarding the program prize." (Jury statement 2022) Berni Wagner (born 1991) grew up in Upper Austria and has lived in Vienna since 2010. He won the Grazer Kleinkunstvogel in 2013 and has since performed on cabaret stages across the German-speaking world, in addition to solo performances with the "Lange Nacht des Kabaretts" (2015/16) and the collective "Das Magische Auge" (2021/22). Radio comedy formats by and with Berni Wagner have been broadcast on Ö3, FM4 and Ö1.Campus. He is known to ORF viewers as part of the "Was gibt es Neues?" guessing team, from "Pratersterne" and as a guest of the "Kabarettgipfel" from the Wiener Stadthalle. "Galápagos" is the 4th solo program of the studied biologist and was awarded the Austrian Cabaret Prize as the best program in 2022.
